A working record, not an eligibility certificate. This original YouSail worksheet is an organisational aid. It is not an RYA-issued logbook or a substitute for the current syllabus, passage evidence or examiner review.
Before you add a total
- Check your chosen exam’s vessel, role, time-limit and tidal-experience rules.
- A qualifying day aboard uses the RYA’s eight-consecutive-hour definition, with most of the time at sea; shorter trips cannot be added together to make a day.
- For qualifying passages, record both the shortest navigable planned route and the actual distance. Check the threshold for your exam.
- Keep the passage plan and vessel-log references. Do not describe a crew passage as a skipper passage if you did not hold that responsibility throughout.

Three questions for your logbook review
- Which entries meet the requirements for the exam I’m considering?
- What supporting evidence is missing or needs clarification?
- Should my next sailing focus on distance, night experience, skipper responsibility or practical skills?
