Package or individual courses?
Compare the contents, not just the total.
Flying Fish also lists a Yachtmaster Offshore Fast Track programme at A$19,990. Its page states that the RYA exam fee is additional and describes accommodation and meals aboard liveaboard passages. That does not establish that every night ashore or every living expense is covered. Check the published package ↗
Before adding separate courses to your budget, identify what is already in the programme. A theory course, practical skills course and preparation course may address different needs, but you should not assume you need all three.

Leave room for the extras.
- Exam: use the current RYA fee; confirm currency and any examiner or boat costs with your centre.
- Certificates: quote accepted radio and first-aid training; add commercial requirements only if relevant.
- Living costs: include travel, nights ashore, meals, transport and time away from work.
- Equipment: ask what is supplied before buying waterproofs, a lifejacket, charts or study materials.

Plan around milestones

Get the logbook reviewed, identify any missing passage experience, then allow time for theory revision and practical coaching before an exam date.
Read the calendar closely.
Ask how tuition, passages, rest days and exams are arranged. Confirm what happens if weather, illness or your progress changes the planned sequence.
Spend on the gap that matters.
Use a logbook review to choose between more passage experience and more coaching. Ask about equipment loans, shared accommodation and existing certificate recognition. Keep a reserve for a postponed exam or additional practice instead of treating a package end date as a guaranteed qualification date.
